WISL Logo - 600VANCOUVER, WA—Vancouver Victory FC have been in a position to take points in all three of their Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) matches so far. Saturday night at Clark County Indoor Sports V2FC was right with their opponent at 3-3. Then the defending WISL Champions Tacoma Stars Reserves (2-1-0) pulled away for a 8-3 triumph, leaving Vancouver at 0-3-0 for the year so far. “We played good tonight for the first 3 1/2 half quarters but need to finish out matches.  The teams in this league are too good to not bring it for all four quarters,” said V2FC head coach Semir Vejo.

Club owner Barrett Goddard said, “”We played significantly better tonight.  We lost our composure after some tough calls at the end, but we are now on the right track.  Give the Tacoma Stars a lot of credit, this game was even with 8 minutes to go and they finished out the match.”

Assistant coach Corey Ellis summed up the club’s frustrations. “It is disappointing to be in a position to win all three of our first matches in the fourth quarter and not come out with any points.  We have to learn to overcome and earn our points.”

Vancouver got goals on the night from J Romac, Mike Chamberlain, and Gee Bedoyan. The latter tied the match 3-3 after the clubs had exchanged the lead several times in the tight match. In the fourth quarter the Victory were trailing 4-3 when a series of calls went against them that gave the Stars Reserves powerplay chances. The visitors converted them to break the match open 6-3. They tagged on a couple of late goals that don’t indicate how close the match was overall. Nate Ford moved into a tie for the league lead in goals for Tacoma, scoring his second straight hat trick.

The Victory’s task to get a first WISL win gets no easier. Saturday December 19 Vancouver travels north to Bremerton to face the leagues only unbeaten team, the Olympic Force. The next Vancouver home match comes on Saturday January 23 against the Snohomish Skyhawks at 7 PM at Clark County Indoor Sports.
