VANCOUVER, WA— Vancouver Victory FC today announce that 2017 Head Coach Troy Ready will not be returning to the Evergreen Premier League club in 2018. Ready and the Victory part as friends with mutual admiration and best wishes for each others’ futures.
“I will not be returning to the Vancouver Victory this summer,” Ready stated. “My recent appointment as Head Coach of Warner Pacific, continuing coaching role with the Portland Timbers U23s, and Chaplaincy service for the first team will occupy the “would be” time needed to perform the role with excellence. I much enjoyed working for the Victory and wish them continued success in the seasons ahead.”
Victory founder Barrett Goddard wished Ready all the best.
“It is with reluctance that we part ways with Coach Troy Ready,” Goddard admitted. “He was an excellent fit for our club both technically and philosophically. Shortly after we brought him on, Troy was hired as the head coach at Warner Pacific and with that position comes an increased commitment level to build a college program.”
Goddard said working the short but intense EPLWA summer is a challenge. “Troy has a family that includes three small kids and it’s always difficult to be a coach at a high-level especially with our summer schedule that is rigorous. Couple that with jumping right into the college training season in early August and its understandable why Troy wants to commit more time and energy to his family and his college program.”
Goddard says the club will be looking to continue its string of quality coaches.
“We will begin looking for a coach in December. We have had three outstanding coaches in our four Victory seasons. In each case, coaches have left our club to take a coaching position that has advanced their coaching careers. That is very rewarding for us as a club. On a personal note, I wish Troy the very best at Warner Pacific and I’m looking forward to beginning the search for next Victory coach.”
