header-logo-starRIDGEFIELD, WA— Vancouver Victory didn’t score any goals in a preseason tournament at McKenzie Stadium the previous week, so it felt good to see four go in on Saturday night at Ridgefield High School as V2FC claimed a 4-1 win  over the Seattle Ghana Black Stars.

It was 1-0 Vancouver at halftime after Timur Zhividze converted a 25-yard free kick in the 44th minute.

Nic Farr scored a brace in the second half to help the Victory pull away. His first goal came in the 51st minute when he headed home a Jake Young throw-in from close range. The Black Stars got one back in the 54th minute to close the gap to 2-1, but then Farr got his second.

In the 6oth minute Timur Zhividze took a free kick, passing to Farr for a 14-yard shot that gave Vancouver a 3-1 lead.

In the 72nd minute V2FC scored their fourth goal by Harry Pilkington from 7 yards out on a through ball from Illya Zhividze.

The Black Stars were shown 6 yellow cards in the match but remained dangerous on counter attacks. The Victory dominated possession as well as shots and shots on goal in the well-played match.

Up next for Vancouver is another preseason friendly Saturday April 22 at 9:45 AM at McKenzie Stadium against Portland-area side Yamhill County. The match is open to the public with donations accepted on behalf of the Evergreen High School soccer program.
