CORVALLIS, OR — Vancouver Victory FC got timely goals and solid defense to claim a nice win on Saturday April 23 on the Oregon State campus against the Pac-12 Beavers. Some of the Beavers players on the other side of the ball will be joining the Victory later as EPLWA play begins.

V2FC’s goals were by Armando Guevara and Hugo Sanchez (assist on the first goal to Langdon Roscoe, on the second to BJ Romac).

“The result today is important because it adds to the confidence of our group in each other, while solidifying our style of play,” says Victory head coach Aaron Lewis. “OSU is a quality program and they exposed some things we need to tighten up heading into our league play. We are grateful for the chance to play here today, and look forward to when some of their players make their way to our team this summer.”

Vancouver led 2-0 most of the way before the Beavers got a late reply. Victory keep Jordan Farr stopped a penalty kick by OSU forward and former Victory player Jordan Jones in the 43rd minute.

The match was played in a constant drizzle at Paul Loren Field.  The teams were evenly matched in a physically-played 90 minutes.

“Today was important for our team in preparing for the upcoming EPLWA season,” says Victory owner Barrett Goddard. “It was fun to see some of our new exciting, young players mix in with some of our veterans and achieve an excellent result for our club.  Coach Aaron Lewis proved again why he is a great fit for our club by putting together a strong roster and excellent game plan for our match today at Oregon State University.  We will train hard this week and get ready for match next week (EPLWA Opener in Tacoma) against the defending national champions South Sound FC.”
