The Vancouver Victory are honored to announce Andrew Duvall as coach of its Men’s team for the 2020 season. Coach Duvall is the men’s assistant coach at Concordia University and is excited about competing in the Evergreen Premier League this summer.
Coach Duvall had this to say about his appointment “I am grateful for the opportunity provided to me by the Washington Timbers organization to coach this Vancouver Victory team. It will be a privilege to work with the group throughout the summer and to commit myself to this challenge. I look forward to tryouts and the Evergreen Premier League season. An environment of high level and intense competition with maximized development opportunities will be the priority”.
Duvall brings several years of coaching experience to the Victory. He has been the assistant men’s soccer coach of Concordia University in Portland, Oregon since the summer of 2011. During that time the Concordia University men have won several NAIA Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships, competed in the NAIA national tournament, and successfully transitioned into a strong Great Northwest Athletic Conference NCAA Division II program. He also head coached a formidable boys FC Portland 2000 team from 2015-2018. That FCP team competed in 3 state championships in 4 years, won two state championships, won several high level youth tournaments, were regional semifinalists in 2017 and were ranked in the top 25 in the USA for two years in all youth soccer rankings systems. Most of those FCP 2000 players are now playing NCAA DI, DII and DIII college soccer.
Prior to Concordia University Duvall was in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Seattle, Washington. From 2009-2011 he was the ODP Boys Director of Coaching (DOC) in New Mexico while coaching several other teams. 2007-2011 Duvall was as an Assistant DOC for Albuquerque United FC and helped start grass roots programs for youth development that still exist in that club today. And 2005-2007 Duvall worked as a coach and Assistant DOC with then Highline Heat near Seattle, Washington. During these years Duvall’s teams won several championships while focusing on a culture of skill development, high work ethic and positive attitude.
Duvall had 4 great years as a player at Concordia University from 1999-2002, winning 3 conference championships while competing in 3 Regional Tournaments and 1 national tournament appearance. Upon completion of his B.A. in Psychology he entered the professional world and worked in sales until a close friend convinced him to try coaching. In 2005 Duvall left the sales world behind when he discovered how much he missed the sport of soccer, and just how impactful he could be as a coach. In 2011 he earned a M.S. in Physical Education and Sports Administration with a concentration in Coaching from the University of New Mexico. He holds a USSF National B License, and a USYS National Youth License.
