One week ago the Victory Women announced they were back on the field with a spring season and now the Victory Men will be back as well. The Victory Men will start training March 1st and hope to play 3-4 friendlies from March to May. Similar to the women’s program who are being coached by Clark College Women’s Coach Peter Pickett, the men’s team is being coached by Clark College Men’s Coach Ivan Basquill.
Two friendlies have already been scheduled beginning with a match verses local men’s team Toffee Club scheduled for 6pm March 6th and a match verses fellow Evergreen Premier League side Everett Jets slated for 6pm April 10th. Both games will be played at Harmony Sports Complex.
This is fantastic news for the soccer players in SW Washington who are finally getting a chance to play the game they love after last year’s Evergreen Premier League and NW Premier League seasons were cancelled due the pandemic. Both programs are eager to come back in June & July for a shortened summer season against familiar league opponents. This spring season will do a great job readying them for the upcoming seasons.
“This is what it is all about, providing opportunities”, said General Manager Sean Janson. “The Vancouver Victory have always had a strong partnership with Clark College Soccer and this wouldn’t have happened without that strong relationship. I want to thank both Ivan and Peter for providing this opportunity to players in SW Washington.”
