FC Soccer Locker took on the Washington Timbers U18s in their first match ever Wednesday night. The V2FC reserve squad came away with a 5-3 win on a small hard pitch at Clark College. FC Soccer Locker (FCSL) is coached by V2FC Assistant Coach Sunny Dulai while the Washington Timbers U18 squad is coached by current V2FC defender Aaron Kinnes.
The first goal was scored by the Washington Timber in the 10th minute as Fernando Bojorquez scored a marvelous 40 yard drive that caught FCSL keeper Kyle Wilson off of the line.
Jake Leggett scored for FC Soccer locker in the 14th minute to tie things up.
An own goal scored by the Washington Timbers in the 38th minute when a through ball was played to Cameron Goddard who was pressuring the defense. The defender collided with Goddard and tried to clear the ball but pushed it past the Timber keeper who came off his line. The teams went into halftime with FCSL up 2-1.
FCSL midfielder Vic Kamara collected a ball near the 35 yard line, pushed through the defense and scored an unassisted goal in the 61st minute.
Kamara found Ian Farley one minute later with a nice through ball as Farley scored in the 62nd minute to put FC Soccer Locker up 4-1.
An unassisted goal in the 73rd minute was by Washington Timber”s Brian Murray.
Sean McManamon got a goal in the 75th minute on a nice assist from Rylan Berriman.
Washington Timber’s forward Farid Araya finished out the scoring in the 81st minute with a nice unassisted goal to reach the final score of 5-3.
Coach Sunny Dulai had this to say about his squad’s first outing, “Tonight was a slow start under not ideal conditions, but we got going, we got a game in and a win under our belts. It’s exciting to move on from here with FC Soccer locker as we start to get some games scheduled and some playing opportunities for these guys.”
