VANCOUVER, Wash. (Jan. 18, 2024) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League confirms today its latest 2024 expansion side out of the Pacific Northwest. With the announcement, the League officially welcomes Vancouver Victory FC who’s set to compete this summer in its inaugural WPSL campaign.

“Our admittance into the WPSL is a reflection of the continued growth of our women’s side and we look forward to competing against the best players in the Pacific Northwest,” Sean Janson, Vancouver Victory executive director, said.

Over the last decade, Vancouver Victory FC has emerged as a leading soccer organization with a rich history of competitive play. With the inclusion of its women’s side in 2017, the club completed its pyramid and looks to the WPSL to foster player development, community relationships, and contribute to the overall growth of women’s soccer in southwest Washington.

Vancouver Victory FC is committed to providing a platform for talented players to thrive, promoting women’s soccer, and inspiring the community through passion and unity. The club addresses this mission by nurturing a culture of excellence that promotes inclusivity through the sport of soccer to empower its female athletes.

For its inaugural season, Maddy Wright will lead the Victory as head coach. Wright is the current head coach for the Clark College women’s soccer program where she led the Penguins to become Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) finalists in her first season in 2022. Wright led the Victory in the 2023 Cascadia Premier League where the club finished as semifinalists and also helped win the Northwest Premier League in 2021 as an assistant.

“Vancouver Victory FC is set to make a positive step forward as we proudly join the WPSL [and] solidify our status as the undisputed choice for player development throughout the summer for Clark County and all zip codes in between,” Wright said.

“The WPSL provides the ideal platform for us to elevate the women’s game, showcasing our talent on a national stage.”
