Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it has been over a year since the Vancouver Victory have been able to field a team. We’re extremely happy to announce that the Women’s team will be taking the field immediately thanks in large part to Clark College Women’s Coach Peter Pickett’s desire to provide playing opportunities for SW Washington’s best college age players.
The Women’s team begins training immediately with their first friendly match scheduled for February 23rd versus Multnomah University at Harmony Sports Complex. On March 3rd they will take on Warner Pacific University at Eastside Timbers Complex. No spectators are allowed at games but every effort will be made to live stream the matches via Victory Facebook page.
The team is looking to pick up additional matches and will train until May 1st. The roster will undoubtedly have a strong contingent of Clark College players but will also include other SW Washington players as well.
Coach Pickett had this to say about this quickly evolving reality: “Covid has changed the plans for many players not just in this area but around the country. The cancelling of college seasons, stay at home orders, and remote learning on college and HS campuses has put many players in difficult positions to achieve long term soccer goals or even get consistent training. We are grateful to the Vancouver Victory Women’s team and director Sean Janson for providing playing and training opportunities for these players.”
