Hat tricks and great defensive efforts saw both Victory teams walk away with wins last weekend
Vancouver, Washington: Both Vancouver Victory teams could not have asked for a better way to cap last weekend’s games, as they each walked away with a convincing win. The men won an impressive 9-1 versus OlyPen Force, while the women kept a clean sheet and beat OVF Alliance 1-0.
The men’s team started the day o, and wasted no time bouncing back from their previous defeat. It was an offensive onslaught, which was highlighted by forward Hunter Leach and midfielder Gian Gargurevich, who each scored a hat trick. Gargurevich, originally from Portland, Oregon while also playing for nearby Corban University, linked up well with the rest of the squad to lead the team to their impressive 9-1 win over OlyPen Force. When asked about the result, Head Coach Je Lukowiak had this to say: “It was a great start. Our team is starting to come together and we’re excited to build on this win.” The men now hold a record of 1-1 in the Evergreen Premier League, as they prepare to take on Bellingham United in the coming weeks.
The women’s team then came and displayed an impressive performance of their own, keeping the clean sheet and starting their Cascadia Premier League season o with a win over OVF Alliance from Albany, Oregon. Head Coach Maddy Wright couldn’t have asked for a better start to the campaign. “It was a great start to the season, and I’m looking forward to what’s to come.” Another impressive stat on the night was the fact that the Vancouver Victory women’s team was made up of 9 homegrown players. The women look to remain undefeated as they take on NW Elite this Saturday, May 28th at Harmony Sports Complex.
