VANCOUVER, WA—Our Vancouver Victory (3-2-0) will take on another Coastal Division team, the Seattle Stars (5-2-0), here at home on the Hampton Inns Championship Field at the Harmony Sports Complex. The match will be on Sunday (6/24) at 4pm. After being forced to reschedule last weekend’s game against the Oly Town Artesians due to lightning, the Boys in Blue will be chomping at the bit to take on the Stars, league and Coastal Division leaders. Here is what has me on the lookout.
A Hankering for Coastal Division Points. The Victory, at nine points, sit right under the Artisans, at 11 points, on the Coastal Division table. A win for either team this weekend may bring them nipping at the heels for division leader with Seattle Stars and may be the true beginning of a path to the playoffs.
A Hankering for Wild Card Race Points. Meanwhile, the Wild Card Race is heating up between our Boys in Blue and the Artesians with only one point separating them in this table. Currently, our Vancouver Victory holds the top stop in the Wild Card Race, and have for weeks. But, they are going to have to fiercely defend it. There is a lot to play for this weekend and I will be on the lookout for Vancouver Victory verve.
Victory Goals. The V2FC have some great fire power coming from a handful of players. The top two scorers right now are Brandon Zambrano (3) and Tyson Fox (2). However, there is a ton of potential elsewhere on the pitch and I am on the lookout for new names on the goal scoring list.
Seattle Stars Stars. The Stars have a player named Tyler Bjork, a league legend and their second highest goal getter at three points. He was originally with Bellingham United, once scoring six goals in one game. Additionally, they have the league leader in goals, Cody Buchanan, who has tallied an astonishing seven goals so far this season. Combine this with being the league champions last year, I think I will be on the lookout for that swagger that comes from being at the top.
Vancouver Victory Home Crowd. A spectacular youth tournament will be wrapping up the day the Vancouver Victory play and I am anticipating a large crowd of folks looking to take in more high level soccer with the V2FC. I am also on the lookout for the Vanguard, the vocal supporters group singing and waving flags.
It is going to be an exciting match, Sea of Blue. I’ll see you at the Hampton Inns Championship Field in the Harmony Sports Complex at 4pm this Sunday (6/24) to watch our Vancouver Victory FC take on the Seattle Stars. Tickets are available online and at the game: $6 for adults, kids 12 and under are free.
